Join your peers on the morning of Aug. 22 to learn about an exciting new green infrastructure project on the banks of the Blue River in Kansas City, Missouri! Renewing the Blue is a multi-million dollar restoration and education project to catalyze riparian greenway restoration practice and stewardship in the Kansas City region.

Heartland Conservation Alliance (HCA) is inviting local landscape restoration contractors — including small firms and emerging teams — to express interest in an upcoming $1.4 million riparian restoration project. The official Request for Proposals (RFP) will be launched at the Aug. 22 workshop event.

The project includes up to 140 acres of riparian habitat restoration along the Blue River corridor, from 23rd Street to 53rd Street in Kansas City, Missouri. To ensure broad participation and build regional capacity, contractors will be able to submit bids on individual tracts of varying size or collaborate as part of a team to tackle larger tracts and/or partner with more experienced firms. This approach is designed to support both experienced firms and those seeking to gain hands-on restoration experience.

This learning opportunity is the first in a series of seminars and technical trainings for the private and public sector, organized and hosted by the Mid-America Regional Council in collaboration with regional experts and Renewing the Blue project partners.

A light breakfast and a full lunch will be provided, and the event will include visits to several Renewing the Blue project sites. Registration fees will be used to supplement meal costs.

Schedule

8:30 a.m. — Light breakfast

8:45 a.m. — Renewing the Blue project overview, followed by facilitated Q&A

10 a.m. — Shuttle to site visits

12:30 p.m. — Return to Harvesters for lunch and networking

1 p.m. — Event close
