Several Seats Available- Please Encourage RegistrationCourse Description: PER 220 is a two-day performance-level course designed to help participants safely and effectively respond to a biological incident by using an integrated approach. The course provides detailed information about various biological agents and possible methods of dissemination—whether naturally occurring or intentional. Participants will identify appropriate assessment and response actions and will review personal protection, containment measures, and tools that may be accessed during a biological incident.
Target Audience: Agriculture, public health, healthcare and medical personnel, Veterinary medicine, dispatch, emergency responders and planners who may respond to a biological incident to include members of the media, private sector businesses who respond to a biological incident, non-government organizations, elected officials, and other supervisor or management personnel responsible for developing policy and procedures for biological incident responders. Administrators, directors, mid-level supervisors, special operations teams and individuals assigned to respond to WMD incidents to include law enforcement, fire, and emergency management and emergency medical services EMS personnel.Recognition that a biological incident may not be restricted to the primary audience highlights the need to include public health and medical personnel (e.g., physicians, nurses, and veterinarians). In addition, the course addresses information of value to supervisory and management personnel responsible for developing policies and procedures governing emergency responder actions during biological terrorist incidents. This course utilizes an electronic participant guide. Participants will need to bring an electronic device with them to class. A link to the participant guide will be available to all registered participants in the training website. We recommend downloading before the scheduled class date. Please bring your electronic device to take notes, bring your charging cords and power strip.
