MGT 404: Sports and Special Events Incident Management

This is a 2-day management level course that emphasizes the unique aspects of response to an incident occurring during a sports/special event, including considerations for business continuity and after-action activities. You will learn the skills necessary to effectively manage an incident by applying and implementing a multi-disciplinary management team approach as described in the National Incident Management System (NIMS). At the end of the course a practical application exercise can be customized to the facility where the course is held.

Target Audience:
Athletic departments, operators of large arenas/venues, campus emergency management, administration, environmental health and safety, public affairs and sports information, physical plant/public works, local elected officials, fire service and emergency medical services, law enforcement, non-governmental organizations, public health, public works, media representatives, other state, local, tribal and territorial agency representatives

Priority registration is reserved the MARC KC Region (Missouri - Cass County, Jackson County, Platte County, Ray County and Clay County) and (Kansas - Johnson County, Wyandotte County, Leavenworth County and Miami County) and Kansas and Missouri agencies. Travel costs are not provided.

Recommended course pre-requisites:
IS-200.b, Incident Command System (ICS) for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, ICS-200 or equivalent basic incident command system training.

Sport Event Risk Management (AWR-167) or equivalent training/experience.

Registrants will need to complete a two-step registration process to guarantee a seat in the course. Refer to your course confirmation email for instructions.

FEMA / SID Number: Students must have a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID) to attend class. You can look up your FEMA SID, or register for a new one, at the following site, https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid.
