The Kansas City Regional Interoperability Committee is seeking qualified participants to support an upcoming Communications Exercise (COMMEX) designed to provide Communications Unit personnel with an opportunity to complete required task books toward credentialing.

This full-scale, multi-day exercise will allow participants to demonstrate and validate competencies through hands-on scenarios, task completion, and evaluator sign-offs. Controller/Evaluators are also needed and are encouraged to register through this site.

Exercise Schedule

Monday, May 11, 2026 – Setup & Walk-Through (Required)

Team walk-through and exercise setup
All participants required
No students or task evaluations

Tuesday–Wednesday, May 12–13, 2026 – Full-Scale Exercise

All-day operational exercise
Participants will work in groups to complete tasks and required sign-offs

Daily Schedule (All Days):

Audience

This exercise is intended for personnel who have successfully completed one or more of the following courses and are seeking credentialing opportunities:

COML – Communications Unit Leader
COMT – Communications Technician
INTD – Incident Tactical Dispatcher

Controller/Evaluators are also needed and should register for this event.

Pre-Requisites

Participants must have successfully completed a COML, COMT, and/or INTD training course prior to the exercise.

This exercise is a cooperative effort involving personnel from:

Statewide Interoperability Advisory Committee (SIAC)
Communications Unit (COMU)
State and local partner agencies
