MGT452: Physical and Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure is an eight-hour course delivered two different days. The national and economic security of the United States depends on the reliable functioning of critical infrastructure. This course encourages collaboration efforts among individuals and organizations responsible for both physical and cybersecurity toward development of integrated risk management strategies that lead to enhanced capabilities necessary for the protection of our Nation’s critical infrastructure.

Participants will identify physical and cybersecurity concerns impacting overall infrastructure security posture, examine integrated physical and cybersecurity incidents and the evolving risks and impacts they pose to critical infrastructure, and explore resources that can be applied to improve security within an organization, business, or government entity.

Topics include:

  • Identify physical and cybersecurity concerns impacting overall infrastructure security posture.
  • Classify integrated physical and cybersecurity incidents and the evolving risks and impacts they pose to critical infrastructure.
  • Apply key concepts and resources to improve security within an organization or business.

Prerequisites: There are no course prerequisites for this course. Classroom-based course delivery will need access to a laptop or mobile device/tablet during the class session to complete course testing and evaluations electronically.
FEMA / SID Number. Students must have a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID) to attend class. You can look up your FEMA SID, or register for a new one, at the following site: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid.
Please note that all non-U.S. citizens who wish to attend must be pre-approved by DHS before the start of class. Individuals will need to bring their photo ID to attend the course.

Recommended prerequisites. Successful completion of the following courses is recommended, but not required:

Target Audience: State, local, tribal, and territorial personnel with no more than a basic understanding of cybersecurity who use computers and other internet-connected devices in public or private organizations. This includes representatives from:

Please be advised registration is reserved for emergency services personnel employed in the nine-county Kansas City metropolitan area: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri and Leavenworth, Johnson, Miami and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Travel costs are not provided.
