Students are encouraged to bring the HazMatID Elite and computer used in their departments (if possible) to work on the hands on portion of the training. 

This 8-hour refresher course is intended to provide operators of the HazMatID Elite a review of basic and advanced instrument operations utilizing chemical samples. The course provides the knowledge and skills on how to successfully operate the instrument and use the Command software to evaluate results in a more detailed manner. The training course will consist of a basic review of the instrument, running a Performance Validation and conducting analysis of various liquid and solid samples.


Basic objectives include:
*FTIR/Raman Technology Application
*Use Limitations
*Spectroscopy basics
*Spectrum characteristics
*Library search results
*Spectrum landmarks
*Common spectra
*Advanced analysis using Command Software
*Application of Raman as a complementary technology
*The course also includes a review of colorimetric papers and instrumentation to assist with confirmation of results.
